in defence of hip hop, there is a dance called Reggaeton, which fuses hip hop and salsa together as they are quite similar! they are not jerky movements, just isolated and they work really well when mixed with salsa!

When growing up, music has always been a part of my life and since I was born in Spain my beat was of course latin.
I remember going out saturday night to disco bars where spanish music was played,I am not talking about flamenco, not everything in Spain is about clapping hands!.
All girls could dance to the latin rhythm and all guys made an effort, because if they couldnt dance girls would not be interested.
I loved dancing,I still do and if I look sexy and sensual doing it,that's a bonus!

It's like playing a part in a play, there are roles, the man leads and the lady has to be able to read the signs the man is giving her so the dance flows and doesnt look like a fight in stage.
Dancers understand the rules and there is nothing rude, the couple dance, they give their best shot, when the music is over they thank each other and off they go.

When I came to Ireland 15 years ago, I was amazed by irish dancing and intrigued at why they only moved the bottom part of the body!!!!! I understand now the reasons and I'm happy that River dance has brought back what Irish dancing used to be.
I have to say that when salsa came to Ireland I jumped at the opportunity to get back to my passion, dance, but I was by no means moving my body the way I,and everybody else, did in Spain.
Now all the people in salsa club understand what latin dance is about and are not afraid of moving and looking sexy, men and women!!!!!!

So,yes, I am over the moon salsa has hit Ireland and that there are people out there that get what all is about.
